On Tuesday, 30th April, 2024, the Senate passed the Agricultural Research Council Act (Amendment) Bill, 2024, sponsored by me.

The Agricultural Research Council Act is the principal Act that created all the colleges of agriculture in Nigeria. The Bill, therefore, in effect seeks to amend the Agricultural Research Council Act to make provision for the creation of Federal College of Agriculture, Adani, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, Enugu State. 

The Bill, when gazetted, will be scheduled for the second reading wherein the arguments and debates around it will take place before its final passage.  

Given the strategic importance of Adani as a net producer of rice in the country, establishment of a college of agriculture in the area would invariably help to improve the agricultural potential of not just Adani but the entire Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area.
